About BAUHAUS

BAUHAUS – The specialist for workshop, home, and garden

BAUHAUS has grown steadily since its foundation. Today it has over 290 specialist centres in 19 countries across Europe, including more than 160 in Germany. In 1960, customers in search of solid tools and good materials still had to painstakingly visit many different dealers, but BAUHAUS brought its innovative basic concept to Germany: Complete offers from a wide variety of specialist shops, all under one roof, with self-service complemented by expert advice and the best prices. From the very beginning, customers could select from a broad assortment of quality products at BAUHAUS, all of them clearly displayed – from drills and spanners to bathroom tiles, paints, and varnishes along with hardware and building materials.

Since its founding almost 65 years ago, BAUHAUS customers and their demands have changed constantly. BAUHAUS has therefore continually developed its service and product range. An optimal price-performance ratio and solid quality still characterise the company's philosophy today. All the 160,000 products must pass strict internal tests in a proprietary laboratory before they are offered at BAUHAUS. If no product in a product group meets the required standards, BAUHAUS has it manufactured according to its own specifications. The result? Numerous quality brands that the customer can find exclusively at BAUHAUS, the specialist for workshop, home, and garden. In addition to the quality of the products, service and expert advice are the other important pillars of BAUHAUS’ success throughout Europe.

BAUHAUS always acts in a customer-oriented way and uses this approach to develop innovative concepts that make shopping even more pleasant. Sustainable action yet another overriding goals of BAUHAUS. The trading company took responsibility early on to ensure that sustainability lives in everyday business. Sustainability at BAUHAUS is based on four pillars: Employees, environment, products, and social commitment. A corporate culture has grown up at BAUHAUS that ensures both the economic success and the innovative strength of the company while fulfilling its responsibility for the common good and the environment. The philosophy of the brand will always remain the guiding principle: Specialist trade quality and product variety at the best price, with competent expert advice and customer-oriented service offers.
