Aniel Doubles Down on Growth Ambitions of Its Mirakl-Powered Marketplace and Introduces Range of Circular Economy Automotive Parts

Paris, 26 January, 2022 – Aniel Marketplace, member of the Faubourg Group and leading French B2B distributor of automotive body parts, and Mirakl, the industry’s first and most advanced enterprise marketplace SaaS platform, today announced that from 2022 the Aniel Marketplace will offer a new and extensive range of remanufactured parts. By expanding its range with this new category of products, Aniel Marketplace aims to accelerate its growth, as well as its contribution to the green transition of the automotive sector.

Driven by Mirakl’s technology and expertise since 2018, Aniel Marketplace has experienced exceptional growth (200% in 2021) in sales from marketplace seller partners. This now contributes to 20% of Aniel’s total online sales. In less than three years, the Aniel Marketplace has onboarded more than 65 million offers for more than 15 million products on its Mirakl-powered Marketplace (a 326% YOY increase) and is now aiming to reach 100 million product offers this year, becoming the go-to distribution channel for auto body shops.

In order to achieve these objectives, Aniel Marketplace also announced today that the company is extending its strategic partnership with Mirakl. The company also will benefit from Mirakl’s international experience, as the leading global marketplace solutions provider, to deploy its model in Europe and Africa.

Developing the supply of parts from the circular economy on Aniel Marketplace

The use of remanufactured parts creates a significant ecological and economic advantage for insurers, auto body builders and car manufacturers. According to several studies, the combined use of new and reused parts reduces the use of water and energy by 80%, while reducing the replacement cost by 40 to 70%, depending on the part.

In addition, since 2016 French law requires automotive maintenance and repair professionals to offer parts from the circular economy to their customers. However, in 2021 used parts only accounted for only 3% of replaced accessories.

Aniel Marketplace already offers its customers a range of parts from the circular economy and is now strengthening this positioning with a new, unprecedented category in automotive bodywork: remanufactured parts. This commitment is based on an historic and valuable partnership with French wrecking yards, as well as Aniel Marketplace’s recent membership of the ‘France Auto Reman’, an association of automotive remanufacturers.

Substantial extension of Aniel Marketplace’s product offering to strengthen its position as the “one-stop-shop” for auto body technicians

In a context where supply chain challenges faced by professionals in the sector since the start of the pandemic are getting worse, the marketplace model makes it possible to respond to this problem with a substantial and centralized catalog of offers.

On average, an auto body technician works with more than thirty vehicle brands (and several million potential product references) and accesses supplies from dozens of different suppliers, including specialist distributors. By centralizing purchases and giving access to an unrivaled product offering, the marketplace model saves repairers considerable time. For suppliers, the marketplace allows them to expand their geographic reach and customer base by targeting a new, ultra-qualified clientele.

With more than 65 million offers already available, Aniel Marketplace is now aiming to reach 100 million product offers this year. This is one of the highest volumes of offers offered by a B2B marketplace, and even exceeds some major B2C marketplaces. To support this catalog extension, Aniel Marketplace will increase the number of third-party sellers present on the platform, currently at more than 150. At the heart of this strategy, Aniel Marketplace prioritizes building strong relationships with manufacturers and their network of dealerships, as well as with distribution groups.

A marketplace driven by continuous innovation

To strengthen the circularity of the automotive sector, secure the supply of spare parts and meet the challenge of internationalization, Aniel Marketplace has renewed its partnership with Mirakl, the leading global marketplace solutions provider, for the next three years. Since its launch, Aniel Marketplace has undergone major changes such as the redesign of the search engine by vehicle and the implementation of several price channels to constantly offer the best prices to its customers. Powered by Mirakl’s expertise and ecosystem, Aniel Marketplace will also focus on additional new developments for 2022, including: the implementation of dropshipping to achieve ever faster delivery times, and the creation of advertising space for sellers.

Vincent Belhandouz, President of Aniel Marketplace, commented, “Managers of auto body shops routinely spend too much time identifying, selecting and ordering spare parts and not enough time doing business or managing their workshop. It’s in this context that we have developed a centralized, efficient and digital distribution channel in less than five years with an unprecedented number of offers available. Mirakl’s expertise was essential to ensure the success of our platform. On the strength of this success, we will continue to rely on this technology in order to break down existing barriers between the various players in the automotive aftermarket. Today, we have managed to put in place a win-win system, in which car manufacturers and their networks are no longer seen as competitors, but as essential partners in the success of our platform, which aims to be more than ever inclusive”.

Marc Teulières, Executive Vice President Customer Success B2B, Mirakl, added, “B2B marketplaces enable a rapid and in-depth transformation of business models across all sectors. In a short amount of time, Aniel Marketplace was able to rely on this model to digitize 85% of its orders. Adding remanufactured parts to the marketplace and opening up to international markets will strengthen the circularity of the sector while ensuring profitable growth for the Faubourg Group”.
