Decathlon Marketplace to become new business model for sports, well-being and mobility.

BRUSSELS – October 22, 2020 – Decathlon is staying ahead of the game by opening up its e-commerce platform www.decathlon.be. Before the end of the year, its webstore will be complementing its own extensive sports range with products from over one hundred other brands, including Adidas football boots, Santini’s rainbow jerseys, Flaske reusable water bottles and Innerme organic sports nutrition. Belgium is rolling out the pilot of this new online business model for sports, well-being and mobility.

Commercial Director Wim Mathues says: “It goes without saying that our partners need to share Decathlon’s vision of making sport available to as many people as possible, whilst doing so sustainably. They will also want join us in creating a community of positive and impactful partners whose mission is to create a more sustainable, healthy and active world. We want to enhance and extend Decathlon’s existing offer with state-of-the-art products to ensure we offer the best range of sports goods.

Consumers will be able to visit the new Decathlon Marketplace before the end of the year. The company has already partnered up with organisations such as the UCI, Santini, Prorace, Reusch, Decca, Restrap, Teqball, top European football clubs such as AC Milan, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund, and sports start-ups such as Stasdock and the Brussels-based Shak & Kai. Decathlon will be coordinating all online transactions through its e-commerce channel. Partners can choose to ship and handle the orders themselves or to outsource the logistics to Decathlon. All partners must share Decathlon’s vision, provide real added value and of course ensure excellent value for money.
