Context and objectives
Auchan’s strategic goal in building a marketplace was to strengthen the value it offers to its customers: good prices, fantastic shopping experience [in French: “the pleasure of buying”], and a convenient, quality shopping experience. With more quality products for sales, available conveniently in one place, Auchan has created a customer experience that both drives more customer loyalty and drives profit margins up. Expanding assortment with a Marketplace requires no incremental inventory, logistics, or service costs. The customer experience remains the same as it does for Auchan’s own products – Marketplace products are available in-store via kiosks, or in an omni-channel fashion via click & collect or buy online, return in store.
